GeoPura powers Schools Climate Assembly 2023 with zero-emission energy

GeoPura utilised its HPU, hydrogen powered generator technology, to provide clean electricity to the Schools Climate Assembly event in October 2023.

The Schools Climate Assembly is an event which brings together over 2000 young people from across the UK for a day of workshops, talks and interactive sessions to empower young people in the face of the climate crisis. The 2023 event was held on 19th October at King Edward VI Camp Hill Schools for Girls and Boys, in Birmingham.

GeoPura supplied green hydrogen and a HPU to power the event. The electricity generated was utilised to power a wide range of infrastructure during the event including welfare areas, stage and sound equipment as well as internal and external lighting throughout the site, meaning no diesel generators were required. The events sector specifically can be reliant on diesel generators to deliver power in off-grid scenarios for temporary periods or short term hire – GeoPura has demonstrated this can be replaced with a sustainable solution with lower noise levels and no air-pollution resulting in an improved experience for crew and attendees.


The theme for 2023 was “Be The Change”, aiming to spark positive action, make change happen and influence policy decisions for a wider impact. At the end of the event the attendees voted on an SCA Campaign to focus on for the next year – the 2000 young people chose the goal to reduce dependence on fossil fuels which aligns with GeoPura’s aims to replace diesel generators for clean, zero emission energy.

Students were given tours of the HPU technology and engaged with GeoPura engineers to learn more about hydrogen and how it can be used to provide power for a range of applications, including powering sustainable events such as this.
