Site Manager

Location – Aghada, County Cork.

GeoPura designs and implements decarbonised energy services using zero-emission fuels.  Through the provision of innovative technology and commercial solutions, we aim to enable the decarbonisation of our global economy.  GeoPura has a particular interest in developing fuel cell power generation products, low-carbon hydrogen production, and hydrogen carrier technologies and methods. Working in partnership with Siemens Energy to provide this delivery of renewable, zero-emission energy, GeoPura is growing at a significant pace. With experience in providing zero-emissions power to a wide range of industries – from construction to film and TV production, to outdoor events – GeoPura harnesses hydrogen technology to generate and distribute the vast amount of clean energy required for widespread decarbonisation. Current clients of GeoPura include Netflix, BBC, HS2 and Balfour Beatty.

To deliver a new exciting and flagship project in Ireland for a major utility organisation, GeoPura is seeking a Site Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Hydrogen Production Facility, ensuring safety, reliable and efficient operation of the plant, and compliance with all regulations. The role is based at a new installation near Cork; we seek a hands-on leader with a passion for sustainable energy. 

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing site-based project progress daily. 
  • Manage site teams and Field Service Electricians. 
  • Create, manage, and monitor all site-based documentation. 
  • Manage client and contractor relations from a site management perspective. 
  • Define, monitor and report on the status of milestones & deliverables. 
  • Audit project deliverables to ensure they align with both project and overall business schedules. 
  • Facilitate team, client and contractor meetings effectively. 
  • Management of site/service teams. 
  • Management of site programme and schedules. 
  • Management of contractors and other workers that may be brought on to site. 
  • Appraisal of site risk assessment documents, and creation of risk plan to mitigate safety and operational hazards.
  • Creation or agreement of a detailed site programme, inclusive of all site and commissioning works. 
  • Support contract negotiations with contractors.
  • Creation, management and update of Health and Safety files, and management of site construction/safety requirements. 
  • Monitor, control and provide periodic status reports to the management team and customer, and advise the project team on development progress, schedule, project spend, possible risks etc. 
  • Review and manage reports from site representatives and other interested parties and prepare responses and actions as appropriate. 
  • Resolve any issues with regards to quality on operational sites, including during any warranty periods.
  • Check contractual documents to ensure obligations are being fulfilled on an ongoing basis and advise as necessary. 
  • Manage team to achieving customer acceptance of key deliverables, as required by Project Management.
  • Develop lasting relationships with client personnel; evaluate and appraise client’s needs. 
  • Implement/drive areas for improvement of internal processes to improve systems for future site works.

Desirable Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar technical field.
  • Demonstrable experience in plant operations, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in the energy sector, preferably in hydrogen production or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of process safety, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
