What is HPU2?
The GeoPura HPU2 is a high-capacity hydrogen power unit designed to provide clean, reliable electricity where the grid cannot meet demand. At its core, the HPU2 combines fuel cell technology, battery storage, and advanced power electronics to deliver 500kW of continuous zero-emission power, with the ability to scale up to 50MW. Unlike diesel or HVO generators, it operates silently and efficiently, producing only water and heat as by-products.

Not All Power Is Created Equal
For decades, diesel generators have been the go-to solution for off-grid and backup power. But the true cost of diesel extends far beyond the fuel bill. Every litre of diesel burned releases around 2.68kg of CO₂, along with nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), air pollutants linked to asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and cognitive decline. In fact, diesel generators can emit up to 40 times more NOx than modern road vehicles.
Even alternatives like HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil), often promoted as “clean diesel,” still produce NOx and particulates, failing to address the significant public health impacts of combustion-based power.
By contrast, GeoPura’s Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) emit only water and a little heat. That’s it. No CO₂. No NOx. No soot or smoke. Just clean, quiet electricity.
