2023 & 2024 BMW PGA Championship
GeoPura has been proudly working with both FTVS and IMG to provide zero-emission power to a number of sporting events over the last two years.
Kicking off with the 2023 BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour, this was the first ever sporting event to have its television production powered entirely by green hydrogen – producing zero emissions at Wentworth Club, Surrey. GeoPura supplied two hydrogen powered generators (HPUs) that were positioned on the fairway of the 6th hole on prestigious golf course.

About the Project
Success at the 2023 BMW PGA Championship lead to GeoPura becoming a supplier for the subsequent 2024 fixture, as well further golfing events in both Ireland and Scotland.
The prestigious Amgen Irish Open, one of the oldest and most celebrated golf tournaments in Europe, became the first sporting event in Ireland to power its live television production and global broadcast exclusively with green hydrogen.
GeoPura also supplied green hydrogen for the television production at the AIG Women’s Open hosted at St Andrews. European Tour Productions, the DP World Tour’s in-house production company, and its exclusive production and distribution partner, IMG, have collaborated with GeoPura, and specialist TV hire company FTVS to deliver a broadcast with zero harmful emissions. Continuing to utilise green hydrogen for these high profile sporting events reflects the DP World Tour’s commitment to sustainability through its “Green Drive” strategy, which aims for net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
