GeoPura’s initial focus has been off-grid, temporary and back-up power, essentially diesel generator displacement, using low-carbon hydrogen via GeoPura’s proprietary Hydrogen Power Unit (HPU). The HPUs are manufactured to a GeoPura design by our partner Siemens Energy at their Newcastle facility, and employs an industrial fuel cell, UPS and batteries to deliver critical, zero-emission “energy as a service” to our customers across a wide range of use-cases from construction to film and TV production, to outdoor events. The CAD Technician will be working at the forefront of zero emission technology, contributing to designing and implementing innovate technological solutions for next generation zero emission power provision. Successful candidates work as part of a world class Engineering team in a multidisciplinary role, supporting in both mechanical and electrical drawing / draughting functions
Requirements of the role
Successful candidates will be expected to work and support the engineering team in the following ways:
- Production of 3D general arrangement and 3D/2D layout drawings for all aspects of the GeoPura business
- Create concept designs from limited information, providing possible engineering solutions
- Production of detailed fabrication and part drawings
- Production of P&IDs
- Production of electrical schematics, wiring / circuit diagrams, cable harness designs
- Linking of drawings / designs to supporting BOMs
- Provide advice to junior engineers related to drawing or design efficiency
- Complete as built surveys and update drawing records
- Complete engineering documentation or provide support for documentation
- Contribute to the design and development of relevant company processes, structures and systems and help support the introduction of these into the business
Desirable option
- Maintain internal drawing management system and suggest improvements
- Manage and maintain drawing standards and ensure engineering team adhere and apply these
- Build, organise and maintain part library

- Remote, hybrid and flexible working arrangements available, with the expectation of the CAD Technician reporting to the Matlock office on a regular basis
- This role is a new position in a growing business and has the opportunity to develop into a more senior position, possibly leading a team
Requisite skills
- Previous experience working with a design team, 2 to 3 years (desirable)
- Experience working with multi discipline teams and their associated discipline drawings
- A good grasp of “Rules of Thumb” in draughting
- Experience of mechanical design and a good understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, metal fabrication, sub assembly construction) is desirable
- A good understanding of tolerancing, surface finish, standard materials, painting prep and masking
- Experience of electrical design including electrical schematics, wiring / circuit diagrams, cable and wiring harness design
- A good understanding of drawing standards and knowledge of drawing symbols
- Candidates with an engineering qualification or formal Engineering training is a desirable
- Experience using 2D AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical and Autodesk Inventor
- Experience with PLM systems
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated with the ability to work with limited guidance or supervision.
- Ability to self-prioritise and work autonomously, accurately and speedily when required
- Flexible approach to working within a dynamic team
