R&D Engineer

GeoPura R&D Engineers will be working at the forefront of zero-emission technology, contributing to designing and implementing innovate technological solutions for next generation zero emission power provision. Successful candidates will be expected to work as part of a world class team in a variety of engineering roles across three core areas of the GeoPura business, including

  1. Gas to power systems: zero emission electrical power generation using our own Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs)
  2. Power to X systems: green hydrogen and hydrogen carrier fuel production
  3. Hydrogen storage and sustainable transportation

Requirements of the role

Successful candidates will be expected to work and support in a variety of engineering-based roles, including:

  • Design, implementation, testing, and analysis of electrical, mechanical and communication systems
  • Production of relevant documentation, including drawings, PIDs, bills of materials, standard operating procedures, risk assessments / method statements, technical reports
  • Contribute to the design and development of relevant company processes, structures and systems and help support the introduction of these into the business
  • Data acquisition, analysis, and technical reporting
  • Technical HPU Field Service support, including remote operations
  • Technical HPU Manufacturing support

  • Preference will be for R&D Engineers to be based at the Siemens Energy Newcastle Upon Tyne office / manufacturing facility. Newcastle relocation packages on offer
  • Remote, hybrid and flexible working arrangements available, with the expectation of R&D Engineers reporting to the Newcastle office on a regular basis
  • R&D Engineers will be expected to be flexible in attending live working sites across the UK on a semi-regular basis (as required)

Requisite skills

  • Candidates must demonstrate a passion for zero emission / renewable energy
  • Candidates must be Degree qualified within Engineering, Physics or Mathematics (required standard: 1st class degree, PhD, or equivalent)
  • Open to electrical and mechanical backgrounds
  • Candidates must demonstrate both a strong theoretical and practical working background as this is a pre-requisite of the role. The working split will be determined by candidates’ ability and willingness to work across these areas
  • Ability to self-lead R&D work with a strong record of leading own projects
  • The role requires candidates who are excited by the opportunity to develop and design processes, structures and systems and help support the introduction of these into the business.
