We did it! We had a tanker filled with green hydrogen, produced with zero emissions renewable electricity generated by a wind turbine. We took it to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where we converted our green hydrogen into electricity using our fuel cell and powered the First Glance Paddock with 100% renewable energy, and our only ‘exhaust’ from this process: pure H2O.
We were delighted to work with the Festival of Speed’s Technology Partner, Siemens, to jointly showcase our world-first renewable hydrogen proposition and provide 100% emissions free, off-grid electricity for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Our electricity was put to great use, charging the EVs in the First Glance paddock which included the Honda E, and the Siemens E-chopper, both of which completed the iconic hill climb. Throughout the weekend our renewable power also came in handy for recharging the public’s mobile phones and the DHL support fleet which needed an extra boost whilst completing their role for the Festival of Speed.
One of the benefits of using hydrogen to generate electricity is that the only by-product is pure water, something that helped keep our team and our host at the Festival of Speed hydrated. When the Duke of Richmond arrived at the Future Lab on Thursday we were able to boil a kettle and provide a sample of our ‘exhaust’ water for a refreshing cup of tea!
GeoPura and Siemens would like to take this opportunity to thank the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and power provider Aggreko, for their wholehearted support of our clean, renewable generation capability.
